I know, Jodi. Everything about our public private lives is scary though if we really knew all the data they had on us already, I'm sure we;'d be terrified. Such is the digital age. Let's hope data won't lead to clumsy marketing but rather nuanced, sensitive approaches by brands. It's our job to make them realize that's what we want. But point taken. These are certainly interesting times. Thanks for the feedback, Simon

“You don’t have a phone strategy, you have a way that you use phones to execute your strategy.”

This is a particularly effective analogy and a really important point to make. You have to have a strategy first. The tools are just a means to an end.

"It's a whole new definition of targeting, in a sense, because you don’t just target the person, you target when and why they want something as well. And when you triangulate those things, your effectiveness has to go up because you’re minimizing the margin of error."

Really interesting point. I think the targeting becomes about anticipating what someone will want and when they will want it. But doesn't that sound a wee bit big brother-y? It may make for a very personal customer experience (that could turn out to be quite enjoyable), but when you think about how that experience was achieved.... On the other hand, maybe I should *not* think about it and then I might actually marvel at how cool it all is.

Thanks for another great interview Simon.

Simon, I came across you not to long ago; just wanted to drop a note to say I love what you're doing. That great interview with @garyvee about arrogance, etc. Keep it up, look forward to more great stuff.
